Privacy Policy
This is my personal website. I keep data collection to a minimum, and I don't sell or share your data for advertising. This page explains what happens when you visit.

What I collect and why
1. Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click "Accept" in the cookie banner, I use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they come from (country or city), what device and browser they use, and how they found the site. This helps me understand what is useful and improve the site.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Cookies set:
_gaand_ga_*, which last up to 2 years. - Retention: Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. After that only aggregated reports remain.
- IP addresses: Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- Processor: Google Ireland Limited. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
If you click "Reject", no analytics cookies are set. The site still sends Google a signal that a visit happened, without cookies or identifiers, which Google uses for modelled estimates. This is part of Google's Consent Mode.
2. Server logs
Like any web server, my hosting provider (Namecheap) automatically records technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). I don't use these logs to identify visitors.
3. Google Fonts
The site loads its fonts from Google's servers, so your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address with them. Google does not set cookies for this. Legal basis: legitimate interest in a consistent design.
4. Embedded videos
Some campaign videos come from YouTube. The preview images load from YouTube's image server, so your IP address reaches Google when you scroll to that section. The video player only loads when you click a video, and it uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once you play a video, YouTube (Google) handles the data under its own privacy policy.
5. Settings saved in your browser
The site stores three small settings in your browser's local storage: your theme (light or dark), your language and your cookie choice. They never leave your device.
6. Email
If you email me, I get your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply, and I delete it when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. To use any of these rights, email me.
If you think your data is being handled wrongly, you can complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman: tietosuoja.fi/en.
Changes
If I change how the site handles data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
